Strasbourg was our first French town visited as part of the cruise. It’s a bit larger than the previous two stops, and therefore had more distinct and sprawling Christmas markets. Being in France, we noticed that these markets had different craft items and food choices than the German ones. The day started with a walking tour with a local guide through several areas of the town, the most interesting of which was the Little France section. Its pedestrian zones through old streets lined by timber and stone houses was very neat. This first picture is of one of the many timber homes in the Little France section. Bending or warped wood beams like this is not an uncommon sight. Also in this first picture (bottom right) is a portion of a pedestrian bridge across the canal; there’s a YouTube video which shows how the bridge rotates to let canal boats pass. This picture is of the Strasbourg Cathedral, taken from a distance through some hanging street Christmas decorations.
